Baggage policy

Baggage policy

Baggage information is always the biggest concern for all passengers. Depending regulations of each airline, baggage policies will be specified. Please see the relevant baggage information below to book a ticket class that best suits you. 

I. Checked baggage
Effective for bookings from 15 May 2024, and travel dates from 1st June 2024.

Note:

- Maximum weight of each checked baggage is 32kgs.

- Infants Check-in Baggage Allowance Infants without a seat: Free Check-in Baggage Allowance of 10kgs (EXCEPT for Economy Super Saver - 0kg).

- Interline and codeshare flights will follow the operating carrier's baggage allowance.

- Baggage Allowance on KTM-KUL route remains unchanged.

II. Hand baggage

In addition to checked baggage, each passenger is allowed to carry hand baggage with a maximum length not exceed 56 x 36 x 23 cm as follows:

Business Class: Two (2) pieces of cabin baggage up to 10 kgs AND 1 laptop bag OR 1 handbag on-board.

Economy Class: One (1) piece of cabin baggage up to 7 kgs AND 1 laptop bag OR 1 handbag on-board.

III. Excess baggage rate charge

Conditions:

- Rates are applied if for point to point flights

- Rates can change at any time without prior notice following a policy of the airline.

IV. Special baggages

Item Requirement
1. Sports equipment Accepted as CHECKED IN BAGGAGE within the permitted baggage allowance and MUST SIGN the Limited Release Tag (LRT)
Surfboard/Windboard • Prohibited on ATR operating routes
• RM65 handling charge for the second surfboard
Bicycle Maximum 10 units are allowed to be onboard at the same time.
Diving equipment/Bowling ball/Golf bag

Packed in a approved bicycle bag max length of 165cm

Weight calculated within given flight ticket regular baggage allowance

2. Baby strollers and manual wheelchairs

Baby strollers and wheelchairs are carried free and will not be calculated against the free baggage allowance

Passengers MUST SIGN the Limited Release Tag (LRT) at the check-in counter. 

Wheelchairs that contain Lithium Batteries may be accepted on board the aircraft by complying to the safety handling guidelines.

3. Electronics & electrical items

Regulations prohibit the use of any portable electronic devices that could interfere with navigational aid and communication system, both on the ground and in flight.

4. Large musical instruments / Diplomatic bag

Small items such as guitar, violin, saxophone can be taken on board as hand carry (subject to hand carry limitations on size and weight).

For bulky and heavy equipment, passengers MUST SIGN the Limited Release Tag (LRT) and will be checked-in as checked baggage.

5. Perishables / Seafood / Frozen meat Accepted only as cabin baggage but they are properly packed at source within the cabin baggage weight/size limitations.
6. Live plants & flowers The airline does not accept live plants and flowers as check-in nor as hand carry on our international flights. Only hand held bouquets are allowed in our cabin. 
7. Syringes or other injectable medication Passengers requiring use of medical syringes or injectable medications during flight such as for diabetics,or other documented proof of medical needs, are allowed to carry such items on board subject to the certain requirement.
8. Items containing lithium batteries

Some items containing Lithium Batteries are accepted provided items MUST BE properly packaged and comply to the following:

a) Laptop – Less than 100Wh
b) Electronic Cigarette – < 2 unit per passenger
c) Wheelchair - < 300Wh
d) Baby strollers - < 300Wh
e) Powerbank/spare dry batteries - < 100Wh, < 2g
f) Dry Ice - < 2.5kg

9. Zamzam holy water The airline has made provisions to enable passengers to check-in two (2) bottles of Zam Zam water, 5 kilos each. ACCEPTANCE IS CONDITIONAL subject to the packaging to avoid spillage inside the aircraft.

- The unsuitability of packing may not be accepted for carriage.

V. Prohibited goods

For safety reasons, dangerous articles such as those listed below, must not be carried in passenger's baggage.

a) Briefcases and attaché cases with installed alarm devices.

b) Compressed gases - (Deeply refrigerated, flammable, non-flammable and poisonous) such as butane, oxygen, and liquid nitrogen, aqualung cylinders and compressed gas cylinders.

c) Corrosives - such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries and apparatus containing mercury.

d) Explosives - ammunitions, fireworks and flares. Ammunition including blank cartridges, hand guns, fireworks, and pistol cabs.

e) Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter refills, lighter fuel, matches, paints, thinners, fire-lighters that need inverting before ignition.

f) Radioactive material

g) Oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder and peroxides.

h) Poisons and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed-killers and live virus materials.

i) Other dangerous articles such as magnetized materials, offensive or irritating materials.

j) Etiologic agents (bacteria, viruses etc).

k) Apparatus containing mercury must not be carried in baggage.

l) Passengers are prohibited from carrying battery-powered portable electronic smoking devices including electronic cigarettes in checked baggage.

m) Passengers are prohibited from carrying personal movement devices such as hover boards, mini wheels, electric scooters, electric Segways, electric bicycles, which are categorized as Dangerous Goods and they are prohibited.
